BRINGING COMMUNITIES TOGETHER

Two Homelands, One Table: A Celebration of Culture, Community, and Connection

Saturday, 18 October 2025

KLP organised an event to promote inclusion in the Josephine's Accommodation Centre in Urlingford.   The community gathered for Two Homelands, One Table—a free intercultural event celebrating Irish and Ukrainian traditions through food and storytelling.

Long-term residents and new arrivals sat together around shared tables to enjoy an afternoon that blended familiar comforts with new discoveries. Guests were welcomed with the rich aromas of paired Irish and Ukrainian dishes, each prepared to highlight the flavours and stories that connect people across borders.

Throughout the event, participants shared personal memories, cultural traditions, and reflections on home, creating an atmosphere that was both intimate and joyful. Storytelling emerged as a powerful connector, offering space for pride, empathy, and friendship to grow.

The gathering also reinforced a strong community spirit. People who had never met before found themselves in easy conversation, discovering common ground in their experiences, food, and heritage. The alcohol-free setting helped ensure a warm, relaxed environment suitable for families and individuals of all ages.

A Space for Inclusion and Belonging

Two Homelands, One Table succeeded in its aim to bring neighbours closer, fostering integration and mutual understanding. By celebrating cultural diversity and encouraging open dialogue, the event strengthened local bonds and demonstrated the community's commitment to inclusion.
