The Kilkenny Tús programme has many positive placement stories.  One such example, Cory Brennan who after leaving cert was disheartened by job hunting and faced the frustration of unemployment in the current climate.

Cory explained,” When I received a letter from Tús inviting me to an interview, about the possibility of a work placement, I was a little apprehensive about what this might involve.  Within a couple of weeks of my Tús interview the Tús team leader informed me of a placement with the Young Irish Filmmakers.  I couldn’t believe my luck.  I now had a placement in the field of my interest, digital media.”

Cory says “I find the work very interesting with lots to learn as well as the opportunity to teach what I have learned to others.  The highlight of the Tús placement so far has been working as an assistant to a tutor delivering a professional course in the National Film School, here in Kilkenny.  It was really nice to be a part of the whole learning process and I will never look at a film in the same way again.  My role here in the Young Irish Filmmakers mainly involves editing and working on visual effects. I am certain that this work is my future.  My placement provider and Tús team leader have given great support and guidance. I am working on my portfolio with hopes of getting a place in Dun Laoghaire Institute of Design, Art & Technology.”

The KLP Tús team wishes Cory all the best.
