The old Mullinavat Dance Hall known locally as Harney’s Hall, held a lot of great memories including sixty-five years of unforgettable dancing. To make way for a new community venture, the hall was recently demolished and a new contemporary community centre has been constructed to cater for the needs of locals. Kilkenny LEADER Partnership (KLP) is pleased to have supported this project, which will ensure a dynamic and thriving parish in Mullinavat.

The Mullinavat Community Group formed in 2002 with objectives to create a building to support the social, sporting, and educational needs of the entire community. Following a local development meeting, the community quickly united to make the plans for the new centre a reality.

The total cost of the project which estimated to be in the region of €800,000, didn’t dampen the spirits of this enthusiastic community. The Mullinavat Community Group approached KLP with an application for funding support and raised €185,000 through the community
lottery.

The new centre has a sports hall, changing rooms, multi-purpose indoor sports halls, kitchen facilities, meeting room and a library. It will provide a social/business hub and new memories for Mullinavat’s vibrant parish.

This project has received €255,000.00 in funding through the KLP LEADER Programme
